Framing Debates

Ever wonder why debates on the Internet never accomplish anything?

Perhaps it’s due to debate framing.

A favorite is the debate of 9-11 Truthers versus everybody.

If you allow the 9-11 Truthers (conspiracy theorists) to frame the debate, you get to choose between believing that the CIA engineered 9-11, or that you are a brainwashed stooge of the Bush administration and those evil doers at Fox.

Attorneys Equal Power

As children we are sheltered from the truth of how the world works. We are taught that justice always prevails.

As adults, we learn the harsh truth. Justice is hard to come by. Occurrences of justice are few and far between. Most injustice goes unchecked. If I were to guess, I would guess that 1 in 10,000 injustices goes uncorrected.

One thing I have learned, though, is that justice can be bought. That’s why attorneys come in handy. (Reputable attorney directory here.)

Judges don’t know justice from a hole in the ground. They do, however, know motions and the law. Most civil cases are won on motions. Bury the unjust in motions, get sanctions, get judgments, and bankrupt those dweebs.

Yes, attorneys are the weapons of today. We don’t get justice in the streets anymore. We get it in courts.

Justice in Property Ownership

Knowledge is power, especially where your legal rights are concerned. The Fair Housing Act of 1968 laid down the following rules:

What Is Prohibited?

In the Sale and Rental of Housing: No one may take any of the following actions based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or handicap:

* Refuse to rent or sell housing
* Refuse to negotiate for housing
* Make housing unavailable
* Deny a dwelling
* Set different terms, conditions or privileges for sale or rental of a dwelling
* Provide different housing services or facilities
* Falsely deny that housing is available for inspection, sale, or rental
* For profit, persuade owners to sell or rent (blockbusting) or
* Deny anyone access to or membership in a facility or service (such as a multiple listing service) related to the sale or rental of housing.

So whether you were looking for Boulder real estate or Miami real estate, you could rest assured that your rights are the same.
